Filmmakers have a hand in all stages of the filmmaking process except when it comes to developing film, and are therefore denied the chance to experiment with the aesthetic properties of analogue film.
Hands-on developing techniques let filmmakers appreciate the positive and negative effects of light in filmmaking alchemy and give them a greater insight into the material nature of their film.
Participants will shoot a group film on a Bolex 16 mm camera and then experiment with different developing techniques: negative development, reversible/irreversible processing and other experimental methods.
This is a residential workshop. Registration fee covers your workshop fee, accommodation and all meals. Prior knowledge or experience with film is not required to participate.
